They say, if you are still able to provide food on your table during this pandemic, your company loves you. I must say, yes! My company's loyalty was tested during the Covid19 explosion. They did not leave us. Forbes magazine was not mistaken to choose the company that I worked with as one of the best employers of the year. Despite of these, why did I decide to leave my company?

Hi there! I am Jobelle Lleve who worked as a Customer Service Associate for 5 (Five) years. I decided to resign in October 2020. Yes, I left the family that I loved for years. The next questions would be: 1.) Is this the right time to resign given the unstable economic status caused by the pandemic? 2.) Is it worth it to give up my current company in exchange for the world of Freelance? Here are the 5 honest reasons why I quit my corporate job:
1. It is not yet safe outside.
I was on work-from-home setup for months. It was a worry-free months that indeed a great blessing; however, the transition of our community status from ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine) to GCQ (General Community Quarantine) which allows the company to have their employees present physically at work means high-risk of spreading the virus. I totally understand that our company needs to bounce-back and we owe so much from their love towards us, employees, but prioritizing my and my family's health during this time is not a selfish thing. It's a matter of which-is-which.
2. My salary is no longer enough to compensate my bills.
Who would want to hustle his/her way from paycheck to paycheck? Well, I was once a Bachelor of such vigorous struggle but as I age, I begin to understand the importance of planning ahead. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail ! " -- Benjamin Franklin. Our savings and investments will prove our love for the valuable people around us. We need to be certain in times of uncertainties. On the top of these, there comes our best friend, Judith (Due Date) knocking. (Lol)
3. I put so much time in my work.
I usually closes my workstation at 8:00 PM-10:00 PM from 8:00 AM shift. Doing this every day is no longer good for my mental, physical, and social health.
4. Flexibility makes me productive
I am the type of person that is more productive when not monitored. Flexibility is something that you will not have in a corporate company.
5. I no longer find my purpose in the company.
One of my inspirational Bible verses is the Colossians 3:23. It says, "In everything that you do, work at it with all your heart as working it for the Lord and not for human masters." Yes, we ought to provide exemplary works but, if the fire in our hearts died down, please be cautious as this might be the sign that our purpose in whatever field we lay our hands and hearts into has done.
Those are the reasons why I decided to quit. Going back to the above-mentioned questions: 1.) Is this the right time to resign given the unstable economic status caused by the pandemic? 2.) Is it worth it to give up my current company in exchange for the world of freelance? Always remember that you should not quit because it is hard or you are not comfortable but, rather, quit because you are meant to conquer another chapter. Even if it costs you moving on from scratch, gladly do it. You will never know what awaits you until you find the courage to step outside your comfort zone. Let your purpose override your fears, insecurities, and doubts.
Here I am, nailing the Freelance world, enjoying the perks of freedom, and embracing opportunities to provide a better living for my parents and my future family. I am proud to say that I am meant for this journey!
